Song of Solomon, Sexy and Sacred

by admin on May 30, 2013 in Ceremony Traditions, Scripture with 1 Comment

Friends of mine were so moved by Song of Solomon that they chose passages from this book as their wedding ceremony Scripture reading. They stood next to each other, with the Bible in front of them, and read to each other—in front of the congregation—the words of the lover and the beloved.

Thought for the Week: Psalm 119:9

by admin on May 26, 2013 in Faith, Scripture, Thought for the Week with No Comments

Holy God, You are perfect in every way. Show me my sin, Lord, and give me the courage to face it, to confess it, and to lay it at Your feet so that You would help me repent. Heal me and restore me on a daily basis. I do not want anything to stand between You and me or between my husband and me, so bring to light anything that is currently in darkness. Show me how to use Your Word to guard myself from future sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitations III: Making Them Personal

by admin on March 5, 2013 in Invitations, Scripture with 54 Comments

Lord, thank You that we have a wedding to announce! You are the God of love, the God of celebration, and the God of joy. Show us how we can offer a spirit of love, celebration, and joy through our invitations so that our guests would be deeply touched by the love of Christ that is in our relationship. Help us to think of an idea that represents who we are, that is affordable, that is memorable, and that is logistically feasible. We want our wedding to be a worship ceremony for You and a celebration of Who You are in our lives, so please help us choose invitations that would make You proud. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father, holy of holies, You are the best thing in my life! Forgive me for putting other people and things before You when all my heart truly desires is You. Show me how to meditate on You, how to drink You in, and how to live my life authentically in love for You! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is …

by admin on January 22, 2013 in Ceremony Traditions, Relationship, Scripture with No Comments

Jesus is patient; Jesus is kind; Jesus is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. He does not insist on His own way; He is not irritable or resentful. Jesus does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Jesus bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
