A Page Is Turned: Slideshow Song

by admin on October 12, 2011 in Music, Reception Traditions, Relationship with No Comments

The story of a boy who grows up in a cruel world, refined by the grace of God.  The story of a girl who grows in the protection of a loving God despite the challenges of the world that preys on her.  Boy meets girl, or more accurately, girl meets boy.  Their love is that which is given by a gracious and redeeming God.  Forever after, they live in the love of marriage.

Bebo Norman puts this modern-day fairy tale to a soul-catching tune in his song A Page Is Turned.  He sings a story that could be any one of ours.

His choice of softer instrumentation allows the lyrics to be emphasized, taking the listener through the life of a young boy, the life of a young girl, and their relationship that matures into the deep, married love.

While this song is perfect for a first dance, it is even more suited for a wedding slideshow.  The first minute and fifty seconds, which sings of the boy’s life, is perfect for showing pictures of the groom as he grows up.  The next minute and forty seconds, the girl’s story, would be where the bride’s childhood and single-era pictures would go.

The last minute and a half, beginning with the words, “A page is turned in this life, he’s making her his wife,” are when the pictures of their story together would be shown.

Using A Page Is Turned for the slideshow keeps it short and sweet (and well organized).  Because the song fits so perfectly with the bride and groom’s fairy tale love story, it feels like it was written just for them.  But the song also captures the redeeming nature of God’s love so well that every couple out there will be nostalgic for their own love story too.
