The Sweet Christian Bride

Another Year’s Reflection

by admin on December 4, 2012 in Logistics with No Comments

The Sweet Christian Bride just celebrated its 2nd birthday!

I’ve always been a fan of reflecting on milestones for the purpose of both savoring the old era and celebrating the new.  Looking back and contemplating what worked and what didn’t is my favorite tool for growth, and I would welcome your help in doing so.

As SCB’s dedicated readers, I would love to hear from you:

WHAT ABOUT THE SWEET CHRISTIAN BRIDE HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO YOU?

WHAT ADDITIONS OR CHANGES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN ORDER FOR SCB TO BETTER SUIT YOUR NEEDS AS A CHRISTIAN BRIDE (OR FRIEND, PARENT, FIANCE, PASTOR, ETC.)?

Reply to this post with a comment if it’s meant for all, or send me a message through the contact form if it’s meant for just me.

The biggest blessing to me has been hearing from brides who have been looking for a resource like SCB, praying for brides who have entrusted prayer requests to me, and meeting/highlighting quality Christian vendors.  I’m hoping to have YOU contribute your expertise to the site this year.

Ways that you can contribute:

– REAL WEDDINGS: Send me pictures from your recent wedding including thoughts behind particular details and the names of your photographer and vendors.

– BRIDAL REFLECTIONS: As you are going through your engagement, or if you have recently done so, what wisdom is God giving you that other brides might want to know?

– COUPLE HIGHLIGHT: Send me pictures of you and your fiancé, and tell me how you met?  What is your story?  What aspects of your wedding are (or were, if you are already married) you most excited about?

-D-I-Y SUCCESS STORIES: What aspects of your wedding did you create yourself?  Write a step-by-step “how-to” for that aspect and submit photos of your process (if you have them) and of the result.

-QUESTIONS/TOPICS: Some of the most fun I’ve had with the blog posts was addressing brides’ questions.  Let me do the research for you.  What do you want to know?

-WEDDING EXPERTISE: If you are a music lover, write a wedding song review. If you are a culinary buff, what recipes would make for great wedding food?  If you are a fashion guru, how can a bride incorporate pieces she already has to cut costs on her bridal attire?  If you are a florist, how can a bridal party learn to make D-I-Y boutonnieres?  You get the picture.  What are you great at, and how can brides benefit from your expertise?

-PASTORAL WISDOM: Pastors, send me stories of God-honoring weddings that would make great models for brides.  And perhaps some ideas you have picked up along the way of what not to do.  Also, any theological insight to weddings or pre-marital counseling is welcomed!

-VENDORS: SCB’s vendor directory is still on the slim side.  Which vendors do you love working with?  We want other brides to know about them.  Please put me in touch with your quality vendors, so we can build up their businesses and connect brides with people they can trust.

-PRAYER: Please pray that SCB would glorify God and would help brides to do so as well!  Pray for each post, that it may speak to someone.  Pray for each vendor, that their business would be blessed and that they would continue to do quality work.  Pray for the bride book that is on track for publication in January 2013.  Pray for wisdom and grace for me.  Pray for whatever else God prompts you to.

-ETC.

You can contribute any of the above through the SCB contact form or by emailing me at thesweetchristianbride@gmail.com. (Any publishing on SCB will be subject to my discretion).

Lastly, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support of The Sweet Christian Bride.  A blog is nothing without its readers.  You have been a great encouragement.

God bless your next year!
