Happily Ever Aster

by admin on September 26, 2011 in Flowers with No Comments

For all you September girls out there, your birth flower can make a striking bridal bouquet for an autumn wedding.  The aster, Greek for star, commonly comes in purple or blue. Asters are obedient garden flowers, which makes them a familiar backyard site.  Resembling a daisy, the aster boasts of femininity and nostalgia.

Bundling a simple handful of asters into a loose posy or hand-tied bouquet can give a vibrant, yet down-to-earth feel for a garden wedding ceremony.  On the other end of the spectrum, coupling plenty of asters with other dynamic flowers can give a bold, transcendental look; an army of asters creates a shield of color.

If you are using asters for your bridal party, you can create a dainty looking pomander bouquet for your flower girls.  Making a pomander bouquet a simple D-I-Y project if you are interested in saving some dollars or in spending some creative time with your bridal crew.

No need to stick with the traditional oranges, browns, reds, and yellows that walk the red carpet of autumn.  Take advantage of the blue and purple asters to bring a cool and memorable tone to a warm-hued season.
