Sample Wedding Vows: Lindsay and Chris

by admin on June 17, 2011 in Vows with 3 Comments

Today Chris and I have been married for 5 years!   Each year we watch our wedding DVD on our anniversary to re-calibrate our current marriage to the one that was set before us on our wedding day.  The best part of this tradition is watching ourselves say our vows to each other, which I’m including below.

Mine to Chris:

Christopher Daniel, my love, you are a man of Godly character and of pure heart.  Your great mind, faithful convictions, and abundant talents and spiritual gifts bless me and shape me into a better woman of God.

You are my constant teammate, myperfect compliment, and my closest friend.  I believe with my whole heart that you are the most amazing man in the whole world.  And I am the luckiest woman in the whole world to come alongside you as your wife.

I promise to care for you and nurture you, to support you in even the most trying times.  I promise to honor and uplift you both in public and in private.  I promise to listen to you and to respect your ideas, decisions, space, and feelings, and to submit to your Godly leadership.  I promise to sharpen and challenge you so that you may grow to your greatest potential.  I promise also to support you in achieving your dreams.

I so greatly desire to love, respect, and serve you unconditionally, and I promise before God and before this great cloud of witnesses to try to fully live out that desire allowing our marriage to reflect the same love as Christ had for His beloved Church.

Chris’ to me:

Lindsay, I love all of you: your mind, your body, and your heart.  Even though you have so many gifts, I do not love you for what you can do, but for who you are, and my soul is compelled to seek after yours.

Lindsay, you are my sweet, my beauty, my teammate, my best friend, and my love.

I promise to love you through service and serve you in love to the best of my ability.  I will celebrate with you in your successes, and I will lift you up when you are weak.  I promise you will never have to fight a battle without me by your side.  By the power of the Holy Spirit, I will strive to love you as Christ loved the Church as long as we both shall live.
