Paying with Ointment or with Copper?

Here we see the lavish and the meager, both of which were pleasing to Jesus, even if other people didn’t understand why. In truth, the ointment and the copper coins were both lavish offerings in the sense that they were of great worth to the giver; the ointment was perceived as lavish and the copper coins were not simply because of their monetary value. Jesus, however, knew the cost to the giver, and He knew their attitudes of giving.
