Heavenly Father, all the goodness in me is a gift from You. There is nothing righteous in me apart from You, so I thank You for Your grace and for Your Spirit Who transforms my heart. Strengthen me to be a light in my home so that my words, thoughts, and deeds will always be those that reflect You. May that integrity of heart greatly bless my husband and family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Father, You are so creative and vast in Your design. Forgive me that I judge those who aren’t me and that I want to control those who do things differently from me. Help me to see the masterpiece in my husband that You see. Release me from my assumption that different is less valuable. I never want my husband to believe that he is not good enough for me, and I never want to rob You of the many ways You receive our worship. Teach me instead how to embrace my husband and to learn from his differences, for they are good! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prefer each other.
I had never heard that phrase before, but it stuck with me. Preferring means to desire something more than something else. What if married couples preferred each other every day, desiring the other’s good will more than their own? What would that look like?
