Thought for the Week: Psalm 103: 10-12

“He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:10-12).

This passage is a beautiful reminder that no sin is too big for God’s forgiveness.  No matter what we have done or continue to do, He will always love us, and if we are in Christ, His forgiveness is always given to us.  There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).  We can always approach our Heavenly Father with confidence because of Christ’s blood that was shed for our sins.

In marriage, this reminder extends outward as well, as we seek to be more like Christ in our relationships.  When your husband inevitably sins against you, take time to praise God for His unconditional love and forgiveness before responding to your husband.  Let your response be one that is an outflow of the undeserved gift of grace, mercy, and love that you received from God.

Heavenly Father, You are the source of true peace, love, and forgiveness.  Because You are all-powerful, I know that You can forgive my husband through me even when I am too weak to do so.  Let the sun never go down on my anger, and help my husband and I to work through our sin, hurt, and anger with the very grace and mercy that You have given each of us.  Teach us how to love like You love.  Thank You, Lord!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
